The Northeast Maryland Amateur Radio Contest Society's 2006 Field Day event was certainly different! The operations were halted outside before they had begun due to some ferocious thunderstorms. The concensus after about 2 hours of non-stop rain and peals of thunder was that we should just start operating inside for the duration of the event. So, between breaks in the storms rolling through and eating a lot, we got our 2006 effort underway.

It was a nice change from being outside - many creature comforts and no insects snacking on you during pile ups! We also had a few guest ops all under the age of 17. This was their first exposure to amateur radio, and they really enjoyed making contacts. Involving young people is one of our goals in the club so this was a wonderful experience for everyone. We would like to thank everyone who participated including PC technicians, kitchen support, loggers and operators. It was truly a team effort, and there is no way that we could have accomplished what we did without everyone's contribution.
