The Northeast Maryland Amateur Radio Contest Society's 2005 Field Day event was an outstanding success! The weather was beautiful on Saturday, but Sunday was more hot and humid. By the end of the weekend we had over 20 people operate and visit our Field Day site, and a good time was had by all.

One of the more famous quotes of the weekend (which goes to show how well we were fed) was from Steve, W3JX, "You mean it's time to eat again?!"  There was much oohing and aahing and assorted eyerolling over Dulce's (KB3KZH) now famous Phillipine beef and pork BBQ on a stick! Not to mention JX's famous "Marconi" pasta salad! Bill, K3KEI, really enjoyed the gourmet diet water cooled to perfection. There were plenty of hamburgers, hot dogs, casseroles and other assorted goodies, too.

The antennas we used included an 80 meter inverted V (apex at about 70' ), 80 meter 1/4 wave ground plane, 40 meter dipole (approx. 50' ) and a Mosely TA 33 Jr. for 10, 15 and 20. The only states that we did not work were Utah and Alaska. We worked Hawaii on 40 meters Sunday morning. Building on our experiences this year, thoughts for Field Day 2006 are already beginning to stir. It's not too early to mark your calendar NOW for June 24 - 25, 2006!

We would like to thank everyone who participated including the setup crew, PC technicians, kitchen support, chefs, loggers and operators. It was truly a team effort, and there is no way that we could have accomplished what we did without everyone's contribution. If you would like to find out more about the Northeast Maryland Amateur Radio Contest Society, please click here or e-mail Steve, W3JX, at ne3md@comcast.net.
